- What is The Sanctuary on the Hill?
Mission First is a veterans nonprofit building The Sanctuary on the Hill: 90+ wooded acres in Warrick County, in the Evansville Tri-State, where veterans and their families can rest, reconnect, and heal. It is under construction now and opens in April 2027.
- Where is The Sanctuary on the Hill?
The sanctuary sits on 90+ acres of wooded ground in Warrick County, Indiana, in the Evansville Tri-State region. Mission First's office and mailing address is 318 Main St, Evansville, IN 47708.
- When does it open?
April 2027. Ground was broken in March 2025. The Ronnie Brookshire Lodge is standing, the Activity Center is complete, and the cabin sites and horse stables are underway.
- What will be at the sanctuary?
The Ronnie Brookshire Lodge for events, gathering, and connection. The Activity Center, a light-filled hall over the lake. Family cabins so families can stay together. Horse stables for a planned equine therapy program. A four-acre lake for fishing and quiet mornings. And walking trails across 90+ wooded acres.
- Who is building it?
Mission First, Inc., a 501(c)(3) veterans nonprofit led by a volunteer board of fifteen veterans and community leaders. Lead funding is a $6.7M grant from The Community Foundation, with support from businesses, foundations, and neighbors across the Tri-State.
- Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Mission First, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and gifts are tax-deductible. You can give securely online, one-time or monthly, or mail a check to Mission First, Inc., 318 Main St, Evansville, IN 47708.
