Privacy Policy

Last updated July 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Mission First, Inc., which operates The Sanctuary on the Hill, collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit this website or interact with us. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Indiana, and we take the privacy of our supporters and visitors seriously.

Who we are

The Sanctuary on the Hill is a project of Mission First, Inc.(“we,” “us,” or “our”), a nonprofit organization. Our mailing address is 318 Main St, Evansville, IN 47708, and you can reach us by phone at (812) 573-0006 or through our contact page. This policy applies to the website at this domain and to information we collect through it.

Information we collect

We collect information in three ways:

Information you give us directly.

  • When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, an optional phone number, and the contents of your message so we can respond to you.
  • When you make a donation, our donation platform collects the information needed to process your gift, such as your name, contact details, and payment information. Payment card details are handled by our donation and payment providers, not stored on this website.

Information collected automatically.

  • Basic technical and usage data, such as pages viewed, general location, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site, gathered through analytics tools described below.
  • Cookies and similar technologies, as described in our Cookie Policy.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information through this website, and we ask that you not send us sensitive information through the contact form.

How we use your information

  • To respond to your questions, messages, and requests.
  • To process, acknowledge, and keep records of donations.
  • To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the website.
  • To understand how the site is used, in aggregate, so we can make it better.
  • To comply with legal obligations and protect the rights and safety of our organization, our supporters, and the public.

Analytics and cookies

We use two analytics tools. Google Analytics helps us understand site usage and sets cookies; it runs subject to your cookie choices, which you can change at any time. We also use Matomo, a privacy-focused analytics tool that we run without cookies and with IP addresses anonymized, so it collects only aggregate, non-identifying usage data. For full detail on the cookies we use and how to control them, see our Cookie Policy.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the website and our mission, and only as needed for them to perform their services. These include:

  • Website hosting (our site is hosted on a cloud hosting platform).
  • Email delivery, used to send us the messages you submit through the contact form.
  • Analytics providers (Google Analytics and Matomo), as described above.
  • Our donation platform and its payment processor, which handle gifts made through the site.
  • Our consent-management provider, which powers the cookie banner and records your choices.

Some U.S. state privacy laws define a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information broadly, in ways that can include the use of third-party analytics cookies even when no money changes hands. To the extent our use of analytics cookies is treated as a “sale” or “sharing” under those laws, you can opt out at any time using the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in our footer.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our organization or others. If our organization undergoes a change such as a merger or reorganization, information may be transferred as part of that process.

Your privacy choices and rights

You can manage cookies at any time using the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in our website footer, which reopens your consent preferences.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under privacy laws such as those in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states, or under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation. These may include the right to know what information we hold, to request access, correction, or deletion, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money, and where our use of analytics cookies may be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” under state law, you can opt out using the link above. To make a request, contact us using the details below, and we will respond as required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, to maintain accurate donation and organizational records, and to meet legal, accounting, and reporting requirements. Aggregate analytics data is retained on a limited schedule and does not identify you.

How we protect your information

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information, including serving the site over secure connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

This website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Third-party links

Our site may link to other websites and services, such as our merchandise shop, social media pages, and donation platform. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected here, and your continued use of the site means you accept the updated policy.
